Love this so much. The parts I’m most self conscious about my face I’ve tried to reframe as a connection to my ancestors and lineage— if I were to change them, as so many do to fit a generic standard and the pressures of being “beautiful,” what would be lost? I think a great deal Xx thank you for writing this
I love this reframing so much. What would be lost if I hid, denied, or repressed this part of myself? There's always a cost. I agree that it is deep and important work to see from where we come and to honor the spirit that lives in and through us from our ancestors. So much to unpack there! To also honor that which makes us unique is a larger commitment to our valuing of diversity... which we may say we appreciate and yet when it comes to appreciating the offerings of our own uniqueness, we may find we feel only vulnerability and, along with it, shame and fear.
Beautiful. Just like you. x
Thank you! xoxoxo! :)
